Episode Notes

On the very first Femme Hive episode we are addressing a topic that motivated Thamina to start this podcast in the first place: Her experience with post-graduation depression after graduating from college in 2017. Thamina invited her friend Judy Zhu to engage in a vulnerable conversation and share her story of dealing with loneliness, shame and guilt during the first few months after getting her degree.

A few highlights:

"We have such high expectations of ourselves, especially after this joyous situation of graduating from a great school and having this diploma that we worked so hard on, that it really feels shameful to not to have as great of a story for a sequel. […] It just feels inadequate to complain about such a privilege that we have had."

"How do you put language to it? How do you say you’re lost when it doesn’t seem like you’re lost. On paper everything looks good. When we see ourselves from the outside, everything looks great. And it’s inexplicable how it feels very different on the inside and we almost prevent ourselves from putting words to that state."
